WE REACHED OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL FOR THE BENEFIT THIS
YEAR. THANKS TO YOU!!
So many people helped us raise more money this year than ever before. We counted close to 320 in attendance at the event last week! With direct donations from many of you who could not come to the event, plus all of the money raised during the event, we raised OVER $15,000. Now, combine that with our personal contributions and the generosity of my employer to match 2 for 1 for personal contributions, together we raised OVER $35,000. This will go a long way towards funding the efforts towards finding a cure/new therapies.
Please know that every dollar you
donated goes to the MMA foundation, funding graduate students working with Dr.
Venditti. These are top students pursuing their PhD or MD. It also pays for lab
materials related to their work.
The NIH team, with your help, has made
miraculous discoveries. From just a few cells in a petri dish nine years ago
to the reality of gene therapy success in the lab. FDA application process for this therapy along with further testing are next. (For more, on this and other research, click " NIH MMA Research Home Page", see right.)

Don't forget - although we will not
have the benefit every year, and we will plan for one again in two years, you
can continue to support the research through your United Way
contributions through your employer's campaign for MMA! On the blank provided,
write in: "Angels for Alyssa dba MMA Research Fund, PO Box 262, Shermans
Dale, PA 17090."
You can also designate "Angels
for Alyssa dba MMA Research Fund" to become eligible for employer matching
contributions. Angels is the nonprofit that sends all donations to the NIH.
(NIH doesn't accept donations from individuals. Their researchers go through a
grant approval process.)
